Zillow is proud to partner with Mary’s Place.

Mary’s Place is a nonprofit organization in Seattle that provides safe, inclusive shelter and services that support women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness.

Across nine emergency family shelters in King County, Mary’s Place keeps struggling families together, inside, and safe when they have no place else to go.

Zillow supports Mary’s Place with multi-year, unrestricted grants and in-kind contributions including skilled support and resources to help further their goals. Zillow employees in Seattle can also be found supporting Mary’s Place in various volunteer activities such as meal services, event support, and donation drives.

Mary’s Place Technology Committee

We serve on the Mary’s Place Technology Committee, where Zillow team members consult on projects, including helping streamline the intake process for homeless families all over King County.

Mary’s Place manages King County’s family homelessness intake phone line, so when calls come in from families who need help, Mary’s Place staff and volunteers log each call, track shelter availability, and help callers figure out where to go. The system is being upgraded to make it efficient and failsafe, and our team is working with Mary’s Place and other local tech companies on a solution.

Creative Storytelling – Popsicle Place

Mary’s Place relies on fundraising and donations from the community, so getting the word out about the great work they’re doing is essential.

Zillow’s creative team helped by developing a video to spotlight the intersection of health and housing, and what Mary’s Place is doing to support families in crisis. The video spotlighted the organization’s Popsicle Place program, which is focused on assisting families who are simultaneously experiencing homelessness and caring for medically complex or critically ill children.

Spreading the Word – GivingTuesday

We’ve leveraged the size and reach of Zillow’s social media platforms to support Mary’s Place and spread the word, too.

GivingTuesday is held annually the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a day that encourages people to do good, including by giving to and supporting nonprofits. For Giving Tuesday 2018, Zillow’s marketing team worked closely with Mary’s Place to share the Popsicle Place video on the Zillow Facebook page. We leveraged a $10,000 Facebook boost to drive more than $40,000 in total donations to Mary’s Place in one day.

We are grateful for the incredible work Mary’s Place does to help people in our Seattle community, and look forward to continuing our support of them.
