When devastating hurricanes strike and uproot people from their homes, Zillow believes it is important to lend a hand by supporting local organizations working to care for those affected and empower them to rebuild.

In the wake of significant disasters, we partner with local relief organizations and nonprofits on the ground. We provide financial donations, leverage our skills and platform, and empower our employees to help. We also provide financial relief for Zillow Premier Agents and other industry partners whose business and lives are impacted.

Hurricane Harvey – Houston

Zillow’s hurricane relief efforts started in 2017 when Hurricane Harvey hit the Greater Houston area. Floods caused massive destruction and displaced many of our and employees’ friends and family members.

Employees asked what Zillow could do to help, and we created an internal campaign that collectively (as a company and individuals) donated $33,000 to Avenue CDC, a Houston area nonprofit with a mission of building affordable homes and strengthening communities.

Zillow also provided in-kind support to Avenue CDC through our social media and consumer reach, and we helped bring nearly 115 million impressions to Avenue CDC, resulting in 76,233 clicks to its donation site, with an in-kind value of approximately $500,000.

Hurricane Irma – Florida Gulf Coast

Fresh on the heels of Harvey came Irma. Residents all across Florida, especially Key West and the Gulf Coast, saw their homes and communities severely damaged or destroyed.

Zillow made a $10,000 donation to The Miami Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund. The fund supported recovery and rebuilding work driven by organizations on the ground. The Miami Foundation worked with partners in Miami-Dade County, the Florida Keys and Southwest Florida.

Hurricane Maria – Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

Following Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, Maria devastated Puerto Rico. Those affected included friends and family members of Zillow employees as well as Premier Agents.

Zillow made a $10,000 donation to United for Puerto Rico, an initiative brought forth by the first lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with the private sector, with the purpose of providing aid and support to those affected in Puerto Rico by the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
