After purchasing our house last year and spending a great deal of time and energy into personalizing it and making it into our home, I’ve often thought about what price would make me want to move. I have come to know and love our home, and the thought of moving is pretty far from my mind at this point.  However, there are things that I would add if I were to design my dream home that this place just doesn’t have.  If we could sell our house for enough to purchase a home that was slightly bigger, had a porch, and was in a bit of a better neighborhood, we would do it.

Marcos_post So what is my Make Me Move price? I figure it would cost us $750,000 or so to purchase the type of home that would make us move out of our current one.  That’s around a 20% premium over our current Zestimate. I am not sure anyone will take me up on this price, but then again, perhaps it was the childhood home of some rich entrepreneur who is dying to have the home back in their family.  A guy can dream, right?

Others may want to use the recently launched Make Me Move feature in a more realistic sense.  Perhaps they are thinking about selling their home and want to test the waters.  Their Make Me Move price would likely be much closer to the actual value of their home– and they will be much more likely to see interest from perspective buyers.  Others, however, may already have their dream home.  Their Make Me Move price may be double or triple what it is worth.

Whether you’re looking for an upgrade, a pre-market offer, or trying to make a pipe dream come true, Make Me Move may be worth a shot (1,997 people have posted a MMM a price as of this posting — see the home page ticker or most recent numbers).  What’s your price?
