Zillow debuts the only real estate app in ChatGPT

The first-of-its-kind Zillow app brings the power of real listings, financing and housing insights to everyday conversations

Imagine you’re planning your next move. While researching neighborhoods or homes, you ask ChatGPT the same questions you’d ask a friend:

“Show me homes for sale in Denver under $600,000.”
“Find me a two-bedroom rental in Seattle.”
“What can I afford near downtown Austin?”

When you start a ChatGPT prompt with “Zillow” — for example, “Zillow, show me homes for sale in Kansas City” — ChatGPT will automatically surface the Zillow App in your chat and use relevant context to deliver real listings. The app will also show photos, maps and pricing, and guide you seamlessly back into Zillow to schedule a tour, connect with an agent or explore financing.

It’s a new way to navigate your housing journey with Zillow and AI.

Why we built this

More than 800 million people use ChatGPT every week. It’s become a place to plan, brainstorm and explore ideas. We wanted to bring housing into that flow — so asking about homes could feel as natural as asking about dinner recipes or travel plans.

“People are already using AI to make everyday decisions,” said Josh Weisberg, Zillow’s head of AI. “By bringing Zillow into ChatGPT, we’re making it just as natural to ask about homes — and simple to take action on Zillow. This builds on two decades of using AI and technology to make moving easier.

Zillow is the only real estate app available in ChatGPT. Zillow worked with OpenAI as one of the first partners to build an app in ChatGPT, underscoring its trusted brand, scale and track record of turning technology breakthroughs into consumer-first innovations. This builds on decades of Zillow investment in AI, ensuring consumers and the agents who guide them remain at the center of the journey.

What you’ll see

The Zillow App in ChatGPT mirrors Zillow’s familiar design and is powered by Zillow’s trusted housing insights, real-time listings and technology.

Inside the Zillow App in ChatGPT, you’ll see:

  • For-sale homes and rentals, always up to date.
  • Photos, maps, property details and pricing.

Important next steps like scheduling a tour, connecting with an agent or exploring financing still flow through Zillow.

What’s next

The Zillow App in ChatGPT is live right now for all logged-in ChatGPT users in the U.S. on Free, Plus and Pro plans. The experience supports most listing types, including rentals and homes for sale by agents or owners.

Over time, Zillow plans to integrate new construction listings and immersive 3D tours, building on its nearly two decades of AI leadership in real estate.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Zillow App in ChatGPT work?

When users ask about homes, neighborhoods or affordability in ChatGPT, they gain access to Zillow’s real-time listings, filters and insights. When it’s time to act — request a tour, connect with an agent or start financing — those next steps happen within Zillow.

What is included in the listing information in the Zillow App in ChatGPT?

Listing maps and photos, core facts, broker and MLS attribution, and other required disclosures and disclaimers are included in the app. This is a visual interactive experience that brings Zillow directly into ChatGPT.

Can users filter like they can on Zillow?

Home results are sorted the same way they are on Zillow. Shoppers can also use built-in filters to tailor results by location and see properties for sale or for rent. Users can filter results further by asking through the chat experience.

Can you contact an agent in the Zillow App in ChatGPT?

When users are ready to connect with an agent, schedule a tour or learn more about financing, they will have the ability to seamlessly move to the full Zillow experience. That means with one click, they’ll leave ChatGPT and go straight to Zillow.com — right to the right place, like a home’s detail page with the “Request a tour” form open.

How do you ensure AI doesn’t steer consumers toward certain neighborhoods, price ranges or demographics — and what safeguards prevent ChatGPT from generating subjective or biased neighborhood descriptions?

Our leadership in housing includes a deep investment in fair housing safeguards across our platform — and that extends into emerging technology like large language models. We’ve worked with OpenAI to build multiple protections into the Zillow App in ChatGPT, including fair housing instructions from Zillow, our own Fair Housing Classifier and ongoing testing to reduce the risk of bias or discrimination.

The success of this experience depends on a strong partnership with OpenAI, and together we are committed to continually strengthening these safeguards as the technology evolves.
