Dear Seattle Met:

Thank you for including us in your 2011 list of “Best Places to Work …and Play” in Seattle. We are deeply honored to be included along with folks like Expedia, Edelman and GLY Construction, to name a few.

While we don’t have an open bar with a Jagermeister dispenser like Zaaz does (really? a Jagermeister dispenser?) or a cuddly robot like Roger MozBot at SEOmoz (cuddly? really?), we do have one of the most transparent and creative cultures a human being could ever hope to work in. Ideas? Bring ’em on! And yes, we have free soda and free snacks (actually, the snacks are getting way better, thanks Amy!) and an annual ski trip and many other perks that make things nice (like the mortgage team taking a cooking class — photo below), but above all, it’s part of building something pretty special and having a hand and voice in it.

A lot of the credit goes to our CEO, Spencer Rascoff, who seems to have a couple of clones because he is everywhere (go try it out — Tweet something to Spencer and see if he responds), plus all of the other execs who constantly encourage direction-altering ideas. Not to be forgotten is our HR team that hires great people — Annie Rihn, Sarah Bilton, Amy Baisch, Sharon Sartiga and Gleb Petrov.

OK, we’re done with the name-dropping! We just wanted to say thanks for the honor, Seattle Met, we are pretty tickled to be working here, too!

Sincerely,

The People Who Work at Zillow (and love it)
