With today’s bargain-basement mortgage rates, many homeowners are clamoring to refinance and take advantage of lower monthly mortgage payments. But with 31 percent of homeowners with mortgages underwater, it’s not an option that is currently available to everyone.

However, there are government programs that aim to make refinancing possible for thousands of homeowners. It’s an important topic, and Zillow is thrilled to be participating in a Google+ Hangout hosted by the White House. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan will address homeowners’ questions about these programs.

Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff will moderate the discussion between Secretary Donovan and several homeowners, and we’re also taking questions from the general public. If you have a question about government refinancing programs, visit Zillow’s Facebook page and click on the special tab at the top of the page. We’ll pose as many questions as we can to Secretary Donovan during the Hangout.
And of course, tune in to the Hangout itself at 3:15 p.m. EDT, Thursday, July 12.
