OVERLAND PARK, Kan., June 20, 2019 — Zillow Group, which is transforming how people buy, sell, rent, and finance homes, today celebrated the opening and expansion of its Kansas City-area office, which will act as a major hub for Zillow Home Loans. By the end of 2019, Zillow Home Loans plans to add 100 new jobs, investing $5 million in the local economy, and bringing the total number of Zillow employees in Overland Park to over 400.
Zillow is working to radically transform the way people buy and sell homes by making the real estate transaction easier and more seamless. The Zillow Home Loans team in the Kansas City region is critical to this vision, as they help with one of the most complicated and hardest parts of buying a home – financing.
“The world-class team we are building in Kansas City region is going to be dedicated to simplifying what is often the most complicated, hardest part of buying a home — locking in the financing,” said Greg Schwartz, President of Media and Marketplace. “Zillow Home Loans is a key piece of the on-demand experience we put in motion with Zillow Offers and aims to transform real estate transactions by making it seamless to get financed and get into your new home, conveniently and on your own timeline.”
Consumers selling to or buying from Zillow through the company’s Zillow Offers program can experience a simpler real estate transaction with the consistent, quality customer service they expect from Zillow if they choose to finance through Zillow’s affiliate lender, Zillow Home Loans.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Zillow to Overland Park,” said Overland Park Mayor Carl Gerlach. “We’ve taken significant steps over the years to nurture an environment that attracts innovative, fast-growing employers. We have an abundance of talent, a vibrant community and an attractive quality of life. Today’s celebration is proof that our work has paid off, and I’m excited that Zillow is making an investment in our community.”
“Overland Park’s business climate is designed for growing companies like Zillow,” said Overland Park Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Tracey Osborne Oltjen. “We are a region where companies want to do business, and their employees want to live. We look forward to working with Zillow over the years to come, finding ways to collaborate – building partnerships that support their local job growth and engagement in our community.”
Zillow Group expects to add 100 employees to the office, located in Overland Park, by the end of this year, bringing the total to over 400 employees. Job titles and categories include loan origination managers, loan originators, and mortgage operations. The jobs range from entry level to director, and a college education is not required for all roles.
Zillow Offers, now available in 11 markets, reduces the stress and uncertainty that typically goes along with selling and buying a home. Potential home sellers in markets where Zillow Offers is available can request a free, no-obligation cash offer from Zillow to purchase their home. If the home is eligible and the seller accepts the offer, they choose their closing date and then Zillow will conduct a free home evaluation to finalize the offer. Home shoppers purchasing a Zillow-owned home are getting a move-in ready home they can purchase when it's convenient for them. Zillow Home Loans is an affiliated lending platform for Zillow Offers to deliver a better, simpler real estate transaction.
Zillow Home Loans is the newly rebranded mortgage originations business formerly known as Mortgage Lenders of America, which was acquired by Zillow Group in the fall of 2018.
