If you’ve been to the Zillow offices lately, you may have noticed an abnormally high number of Zillowites with stubble on their upper lips. A little weird? Yes. I tad bit frightening? Probably. But it’s for a good cause!

More than 20 of us tossed our clean-shaven mugs and pride aside and joined the Seattle chapter of Mustaches for Kids (M4K) for the 2007 mustache growing season. M4K is a volunteer-run organization that was started in Los Angeles in 1999 with the sole purpose of getting people to grow sweet ‘staches to raise money for charities that benefit children.

The mustache marathon runs for four weeks and was kicked off on Monday with a “Clean Shave” party. This first checkpoint was used to verify all growers started from scratch and to get photographs to track progress. At the end of the tedious and sometimes treacherous season, we throw a ‘Stache Bash to celebrate our hard work and crown the “Sweetest” mustache (as chosen by an independent panel of judges).

This year, the Seattle chapter has decided to raise money for Childhaven, an incredible organization dedicated to preventing and stopping the cycle of abuse and neglect. Childhaven provides programs and therapeutic environments for young children in the Seattle area.

As the season progress, be sure to check back for updates on our progress and perhaps some photos of our stronger growers.
